Gustavo R. Nino Barrera, M.D.
Dr. Gustavo Nino is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Pediatric Sleep Medicine program at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Additionally, he is also in charge of respiratory care for children with neuromuscular disorders in the muscular dystrophy association (MDA) program at Penn State Bone and Joint Institute. Dr. Nino is board certified in Pediatrics/Pulmonology and board certified in Sleep Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ABP). A native of Colombia, South America, Dr. Nino completed medical school at the National University of Colombia, pediatric residency was at Maimonides Infant’s and Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nino has done post-graduate training in Sleep Medicine at Pennsylvania State University. He has received distinguished Research and Teaching Awards and has authored several scientific abstracts, articles and book chapters. He loves Latin-American culture, is bilingual (Spanish), and enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
