Enhancing the Benefits of Anticoagulation Therapy

Warfarin (Coumadin) is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that helps prevent blood clots. It keeps blood flowing smoothly to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack and other serious conditions. But it may increase a patient’s risk of bleeding. At the Penn State Anticoagulation Clinic, our goal is to enhance the benefits of warfarin therapy and avoid its harmful side effects.

The pharmacists in our clinics evaluate patient blood tests, and based on the test, adjust doses as needed. They educate patients about anticoagulation, and assure you are aware of possible food and drug interactions, as well as possible side effects.
