Urology – About
Advanced training and complex cases
Our urological surgeons have advanced disease-specific training and are experts in their fields. We diagnose and treat some of the most complex cases in the area.
Strength of the Penn State Cancer Institute
Through the Penn State Cancer Institute, we collaborate extensively as part of our multidisciplinary team in genitourinary oncology. This cooperative approach promotes the management of complex urologic cancer patients by a variety of experts, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists.
Focus on the individual
The chief of urology, Jay Raman, MD, not only encourages patients to contact his recent post-operative patients to learn about their experiences, but also to seek a second opinion to help reaffirm that surgery is the right decision.
Dr. Raman is one of three surgeons on the urologic cancer tumor board, in which specialists from different areas of expertise review patient cases to determine the best treatment for each individual.
