General outpatient consultations

Individual outpatients are seen through the Penn State Medical Group and Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI). We provide both counseling and psychopharmacological treatments. Through our Penn State Clinical Assessment and Rating Evaluation System (PCARES), we are using validated, evidence-based tools for individualized evaluation in a measurement-based care approach.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Programs are offered through the Penn State Medical Group and Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute.

Electroconvulsive Therapies (ECT)

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a procedure used to treat severe depression. It may be used for people who have delusions, hallucinations or suicidal thoughts or when other treatments such as psychotherapy and antidepressant medications have not worked. It is also used for other psychiatric and neurological conditions.

Child Integrated Care Programs

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Penn State Children’s Hospital offers assessment and counseling services directly in medical offices across the street from the Children’s Hospital campus so children can receive treatment in the same place they received the rest of their medical care. Learn more about our Integrative Care Services.

Adult Integrated Care Programs

Adult Integrated Care Programs at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center include involvement of the psychiatric consultation service in the epilepsy clinic (Neurology), Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic (Gastroenterology division of Internal Medicine), Eating Disorders Clinic (Pediatrics) and evaluation services (encompassing collaboration with several transplant services, including abdominal organs, hearts/LVADs and bone marrow, through their respective services), as well as outpatient collaboration with Family and Community Medicine.

These clinics are accessed through their non-psychiatric partners.
