Division overview

The Division of Trauma, Acute Care, and Critical Care Surgery at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center meets the emergency medical and surgical needs for more than one million people in central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland.

We operate the only Level I Trauma Center for both the adult and pediatric population in the area. Our critical care surgery arm provides post-injury or major surgery care in our 30-bed surgical intensive care unit (SICU), and our acute care surgery practice meets the needs of patients requiring emergency general surgery, as well as follow-up after surgery.
